Last weekend, the Patriots Network, organized by Enzo Alias and chaired by Raúl Latorre, took place in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. We visited the Presidential Palace as well as the Parliament and other prestigious locations. Speakers from Europe and Latin America shared their perspectives on the future of realist-right wing cooperation.
My takeaway from this conference is that Europe is going through such a tough time, politically, that we, Europeans, need to be a bit more humble. We should admit that we are no longer only the helpers of the world, but that we now also could really use help. Those who attend this conference seek to actively make new allies. I attended to expand my connections and to explore Latin American perspectives on the state of the world. If you value what I do, you can support me through BackMe and/or subscribe to my newsletter. Sid Lukkassen with Raúl Latorre, Chair of Parliament in Paraguay. He was also the host of the conference. On 30 June 2023 (June 30 is my birthday), Latorre was elected President of the chamber with 58 votes in favor – he was reelected in 2024 and 2025.
The guests gather in anticipation of the meeting with Latorre. In the photo you also see David Alemany. A philosopher from Spain specialized in hermeneutics.

Mariela Palma, from Costa Rica, is international relations analyst and the coordinator for the Patriots Network. With yours truly and my book What the World Can Learn From the Fall of the West (2026). Also see this post on X.

Thierry Baudet, leader of the Forum for Democracy (FvD) in the Netherlands, also greets Raúl Latorre. Other FvD-politicians attended as well, such as Peter van Duyvenvoorde and Joris van den Oetelaar.
Filip Dewinter, famous politician from the Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest) in Belgium, and yours truly, standing next to the Paraguayan flag (which is almost identical to the Dutch flag). Also see this X-post. When getting to know him, I noticed that Filip stayed much closer to the people, and to what ‘normal’ people experience in every day life, than many politicians, who mainly want status and a flamboyant lifestyle.

The members of the conference are gathering in anticipation of more speeches. Topics were mainly, strengthening international cooperation, and charting a course for Latin America beyond communism and socialist policies.
With Hector Aldanar, a very realistic politician from Guatemala who speaks Spanish so clearly that even I understood it! See also this post on X.

We gather at the Presidential Palace, and learn more about the history of Paraguay and its losses and successes in unfortunate wars.
Two other great photos with Filip Dewinter: these did not make it to X. We went out for dinner. Very nuanced, clear-minded, sympathetic man. In my childhood, Dutch and Flemish media really tried to make him into some sort of bad guy. Very unfortunate and very unjust.

To summarize: more and more intellectually important people are being made aware of What the World can Learn from the Fall of the West. Because that is the goal. We will inject this content into the fabric of society so that realism becomes reality.
Here you can read another article by Dr. Sid, on Europe’s lonely road to decline. And consider again to support Dr. Sid, as the institutions of the establishment sure as hell are not going to do this for us… Follow Sid on X!
