Last week, the Forum da Liberdade took place in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This event is sometimes called the ‘Superbowl of Liberalism’ – meaning Liberalism in the classical sense, the anti-communist sense, of being for individual liberty, freedom of expression and free enterprise. Critics gathered to speak out against the far-left direction the country has taken under the Presidency of Lula da Silva.
I was invited there by courtesy of Milton, the man you see in several photos. As you scroll down through the photos, you will see the success of our campaign, which is to bring my new book, about lessons from the Fall of the West, under the attention of influential figures. Cultures and nations that still have a chance to flourish, such as Brazil, can learn from the self-imposed destruction of Western Europe. Once they start talking about it, politicians in the West will be embarrassed as the truth gets out.
This is my ultimate goal with this book, as it is bound to wake up people up. You can support my quest here (of course such conferences have many expenses).

Marcel van Hattem, a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Representatives, speaks fluent Dutch, as does his brother, whom I also spoke to and who studied in Deventer. De Telegraaf (Dutch newspaper) has interviewed Van Hattem before. The other person is Alexis Efremides, an entrepreneur who is setting up a libertarian pub and is stocking books for that purpose.

Deirdre Nansen McCloskey is a distinguished scholar and Isaiah Berlin Chair in Liberal Thought at the Cato Institute. She spoke about freedom and was gifted a copy of the book afterwards. Milton is also in the photo.

Fernanda Barth is a city councilor and a politician of great integrity – Milton knows her well. Apparently she also has connections to the Bolsonaro family.

Winston Ling will take it upon himself to give the book a careful and thorough reading. This is excellent news, as he is deeply connected to the Ling Institute, an important think tank to Porto Alegre and beyond.

With Hélio Beltrão – LVM publishing house owner. An important voice in the Brazilian intellectual landscape.

With Marize Schons, a key figure within the Atlantos Institute, another relevant think tank that produces good ideas.

On this photo you see Hannes Gissurarson, a professor who publishes on Nordic Liberalism, his expertise.
To conclude: more and more intellectually important people are being made aware of What the World can Learn from the Fall of the West. Because that is the goal. We will inject this content into the fabric of society so that realism becomes reality.
Here you can read another article by Dr. Sid, on Europe’s lonely road to decline. And consider again to support Dr. Sid, as the institutions of the establishment sure as hell are not going to do this for us… Follow Sid on X!
